Wego — Senior Software Engineer
Global online travel marketplace (flights and hotels metasearch) operating across the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
AI-native engineering
- Co-author and most active engineer on an internal AI coding-agent platform that turns Slack requests and production alerts into merged pull requests; owned alert triage, PR auto-fix and LLM evals.
Details
Owned the alert-triage pipeline (Sentry and Datadog), multi-repo access, autonomous PR upkeep (CI auto-fix, base-branch sync, review-bot findings) and LLM eval checks in CI, and co-owned the rollout KPIs. Shipped the first production change delivered end to end by the agent. Also built a security-hardened reference implementation of the platform design: credential-free sandboxes, egress-controlled proxies and redacted audit logs.
- WegoHack 2.0 finalist (top 10 of 23 teams): built ~90% of an AI agent that runs B2B receivables follow-up, from reading customer replies to drafting emails for sign-off.
Details
The model extracts and drafts; code decides every amount, recipient and hold, two people approve each email before it is sent, and nightly evals grade triage and drafts. Next.js on Vercel with Slack briefs.
- Co-authored an engineering-wide AI-assisted testing standard; my reference implementation cut pre-push checks from minutes to ~10 s.
Details
Hosted knowledge-sharing sessions on AI coding workflows for ~40 engineers.
Ads, ranking and partners
- Technical lead for app-to-app handoff from flight search to partners' native apps across backend, iOS and Android; shipped iOS with a ~4x app-install signal.
Details
Shipped iOS to production with zero new errors and a ~4x app-install signal among target users vs baseline.
- Technical lead for a configurable partner-ranking pipeline in flight search, letting the data team ship new sort formulas without code changes.
Details
Designed the architecture (HLD, LLD, runbook, fare-level experiment tracking in BigQuery) and shipped the formula service and search integration, with a sub-10 ms p99 latency budget on the hot path.
- Led partner price-accuracy tracking, the top source of user complaints: raised price-tracking coverage of flight click-outs from ~13% to ~68% within a year and onboarded 55+ partners.
Details
Cut the pixel script size by ~60% and dogfooded it on the company's own booking pages.
Umrah
- Senior backend engineer on Wego's Umrah booking platform (launched 2026); built payment processing, visa generation and the cancellation and refund system.
Details
Authored API contracts and the data model, built post-payment processing with a Redis distributed lock and retries, and delivered an audit-first cancellation and refund system (refund engine, asynchronous per-applicant visa cancellation, back-office UI).
More from this role (8)
- Technical lead for a dynamic native ad format showing an airline's live fare in display slots; led the build-vs-buy analysis and design (in build).
Details
Led the build-vs-buy analysis and POC, then designed ranking, click attribution and a separate billable-impression pipeline (CPC first, CPM-ready) and sized the build. Pre-build data showed a sponsored candidate available on the first poll in ~2/3 of searches; in build.
- Led a partner-facing self-serve analytics portal from identity-provider evaluation to production launch.
Details
Compared three identity providers on org management, RBAC and cost with POCs, set up the chosen one as config-as-code, and launched the public domain across CDN, load balancer, reverse proxy and DNS with embedded BI dashboards cached per user.
- Built the first sponsored-listing fill-rate booster (~7% click uplift in A/B), which evolved into the version rolled out to all traffic.
Details
Also built the BigQuery-to-Postgres sync and scheduled Airflow automation that powers it, a separate integration path for partners' exclusive sponsored fares, and eCPC-first campaign allocation.
- Authored and delivered term-level advertiser budgeting for partner billing, removing a duplicate-agreement workaround.
Details
Later fixed out-of-memory and N+1 failures in its production Airflow jobs, and the design became the budget mechanism for a new ad product.
- Engineer on a partner quality-rating service in Go serving hundreds of requests per second, used to gate low-rated partners.
Details
Bootstrapped the service infrastructure and built rating ingestion, BigQuery sync, a Redis cache with circuit breaker and Datadog SLOs, serving hundreds of requests per second. Supported A/B experiments that gate low-rated partners out of results; the service later hosted ranking and ad-booster features.
- Built an airline product-showcase feature and fixed a click-ID bug that undercounted sponsored clicks by ~10%.
Details
Built the backend and tracking pipeline on flight details, consuming third-party rich content. Traced the click-ID mismatch, verified it in BigQuery and shipped the fix, recovering billable clicks.
- Built a customer-support analytics pipeline within days during a support surge, with LLM ticket classification.
Details
It exposed a daily backlog gap and outbound email volume above a vendor cap, and was paired with an LLM batch classification of email tickets against the support taxonomy.
- Root-caused a year-old iOS experiment-allocation gap and shipped a server-side fix restoring A/B coverage.
Details
Shipped a server-side fix that restored allocation across several live experiments without losing event tracking, and verified iOS traffic in BigQuery.
